DAY 3-COMFORTING OTHERS
Nothing happens in this world which no one has ever experienced before. If you care to listen, many people will tell you harrowing stories of what they went through, yet they managed to smile at the end of the day. Many times, God will always comfort us for one reason, because he knows there are people he will bring in our path, who will need our comfort, just as he has comforted us. God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from him.[2 Corinthians 1:4]
When Isaiah\Israel was facing a hard time, with no hope and there future looked dim, he comforted them by saying: “Even the wilderness and desert will be glad in those days. The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy!
The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel or the Plain of Sharon. There the Lord will display his glory, the splendor of our God. [Isaiah 35:1-2]
Isn’t it encouraging to know that our God is an encourager? He then tells. Isaiah, “With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” [Isaiah 35:3-4]
When you read this, you realize the people were fearful, tired, lost hope and fear had gripped them so much, until they had trembling knees. They were a afraid of the enemy but God was assuring them that it will go well. He will come to save them.
Saint of God, what are you afraid of and what is causing trembling in your heart and spirit. David said to God “when I am afraid, I put my trust in you.[psalms 56:3].
Today lets do this. Take some 30 minutes, if not 2 hrs to cry to God and lay your fears to him.
Lay every fear down and if not, list your fears and present them to the Lord, then lay it before the Lord one by one and talk to him about it.
Tell him as David said when I’m afraid, i want to trust you!
-Tell the Lord to give you the grace to overcome what you are going through, so that you may be a comfort to his people in the coming days
-Ask the Lord to give you a word for anyone who is in distress and wants a word of comfort from you. Pray that your words will always revive them, just as the word of the Lord revived the children of Israel. God bless you
