I’ am an experienced driver (not me) but that’s what i heard from a friend as they conversed with her other friend, and me just listening? I don’t own a car yet, so when those who own one talk, most of the times, especially when i can’t avoid it, i just listen… Anyway, having experience in driving is not a bad thing. Infact with much driving, the more you gain experience, but what triggered my thoughts is when she was asked about her accident history, all i heard from her was “all praise from her mouth about herself and the many yrs of driving…infact, according to what i heard from her that day, she started driving after attaining her 18yrs and from then, in her late forties, she has been on the wheels…..and without any accident record. Honestly, as a Christian, I really expected her to say “I thank God for the 25 yrs i have been driving, and with no accident record. None of such words were coming from her mouth but all i heard is “how she knows” all the terrain in Kenya and can maneuver and even do dangerous turns in certain places, because of the experience and many yrs of driving…
As she talked, suddenly, a thought came to my mind as a reminder of what God had shown me about her one ayr ago in a dream, and for real, i felt like God was looking at me to see my reaction, as she talked. In this dream, I saw this sister along Gitanga Road. She was driving heading to town but when she reached the Gitanga Road junction, I saw her in the car unconscious, motionless not in control of the car completely. The car started spinning around, because of lack of control. She looked helpless in that dream but other cars were fast approaching. I Woke up from that dream and declared “this accident won’t happen…No weapon formed against sister x by the devil will prevail. I nullified all satan’s plans around her that can cause her to be unconscious while driving…I covered her with the blood of Jesus as I interceded for her for some time, before going back to sleep…
Unfortunately, to my amazement, 1 yr later, I was seated next to her and all i could hear from her mouth was the many yrs of driving experience…..”Oh” how i have been driving from childhood and all roads in Kenya are on my fingertips… It was paining my spirit as she talked…I felt like saying to her hey, let me tell you something of what i saw about you and how i prayed for you-and God answered my prayers. Honestly, do you tell someone such things? E.g like “If it were not for my prayers, you wouldn’t be alive today? Personally, i could not but it’s through those moments, as i said,”i felt God was looking at me, and i could not look back at him, because i was feeling the shame we always give to our heavenly father, after he has answered our prayers, shielded us from the enemy, then, without us giving him the praise, we think it’s our ability that has made all the difference.
I kept wondering how does God feels, when we gloat about our achievements and what we have accomplished , yet all God needed to hear, was us giving him the glory for the 25 yrs of driving without any accident.
I’m listening to Don Moen and all the song I am hearing as i write this is, “someone is praying for you”
I had to google those lyrics and this is what he says “Lyrics
Someone is praying for you
So when it seems you’re all alone
And your heart will break in two
Remember someone is praying for you
Have the crowds ’round you gathered in the midst of the storm?
Is your ship tossed and battered, are you weary and worn?
Don’t lose hope, someone’s praying for you this very day!
And peace be still is already on the way
Someone is praying for you
So when it seems you’re all alone
And your heart will break in two
Remember someone is praying for you
When it seems that you’ve prayed ’til your strength is all gone
And your tears fall like raindrops all the day long
He cares and He knows just how much you can bear
“HE’LL SPEAK YOUR NAME TO SOMEONE IN PRAYER”
Someone is praying for you
So when it seems you’re all alone
And your heart will break in two
Remember someone is praying for you
On this topic, take note of this ““HE’LL SPEAK YOUR NAME TO SOMEONE IN PRAYER”
My question to us all is, how many times do we get medals in other areas, yet in reality, God had appointed for us someone to pray for us, for the said medals decorating our seating rooms ,Boardrooms offices and other places where our professions matter ?
In this world, experience is good but do you give Glory to God for it, or do you look at it and put a plaque to describe your achievement from A TO Z -without putting God anywhere? We are what we are because of God and the prayers of many, “some of whom we will never know they pray for us!
When the great Evangelist Reinhard Bonker had the most successful ministry in Nigeria, where 1 million souls made a decision to follow Christ, it’s said God, before the crusade started, sent intercessors on the grounds to pray for the meeting for 21 days, with prayers and fasting. When Bonke came to minister, the intercessors had disappeared in silence and without announcement, but the results were visible…1 million souls came to Christ…I keep wondering, if Bonke would say “Is because I am a gifted speaker of the word of God, and can move masses….how would God look at him? How about us when we pride in what only God can do?
Personally when i get notification from heaven to intercede for someone, I will never come tell you but I’m an intercessor by calling….I pray and my duty is to pray and i see a lot of results even when i see the same people, whom God gave me a burden to pray for them, gloat and pride themselves while thinking “it’s because of experience…. I beg to differ… IT’S God’s goodness that gives us the enablement…He knows where you will find hitches on this road of life…and he may not tell you when rushing out for an assignment will or may informs someone to stand in the gap for you-for a safe landing and great sales. Let the thought of being a great salesman not enter your head to think it’s because you know the tricks of marketing products…Never! It’s God who speaks to us and the people around us, to help us achieve much, as his will for us dictates.
Unfortunately with our days, people don’t give glory to God in every achievement anymore….This is sheer luck, “you’ll hear them say……Some say “i worked for this. I am the best marketer in East and Central Africa……I have experience, come see the trophies–blah blah.
When talking to the Corinthians, Paul says, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31). Imagine this is just about eating and drinking but what about when we walk around, drive around, conduct Board meeting that become a success story and etc… it just means God expects more glory tagged on his name from us-why, “ because he is the one who gives us the ability…
On this issue, Jesus was forthright…He said,” For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5. When talking to the Jews before crossing to the Promised Land, Moses was clear to them. He said, when you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you…Deut 8:10… In the next verses he warns, “Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you.(vs 11-16). Verse 17 sums all up…you may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” He continues,”t remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
How many of us are walking around thinking, “I am the best in this field… I have worked for my achievement… and the sad reality is, “we never give God airtime for all his goodness, as we praise ourselves for what we consider our achievements…..It’s saddening that history keeps repeating itself ,yet we rarely learn from history. In the Book of Daniel, the bible records of how one of the kings thought “it’s my achievement that has made me this prosperous”. While walking around his newly build palace, and saw how magnificent it was, King Nebchadnezzar felt such pride. He said “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty? “Daniel 4:30. Did you read that verse again….”for the glory of my Majesty, and not for the glory of God.. The bible records,” Even as the words were on his lips, a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you. “vs 31-32
God’s verdict to King Nebuchadnezzar’s sin was clear,”You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox. He continues, “Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes. ”Vs 32
Later, after learning the lesson the hard way, in vs 37,the same King says,” Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
It’s unfortunate that though God gave King Nebuchadnezzar a window of opportunity to learn his lesson the hard way, the same never happened to King Herod. The bible records,” On an appointed day, Herod dressed him in royal clothing, sat on the throne, and made a speech to them. (the people who had gathered under his command, to listen to him). Biblical scholars say Herod was a gifted Orator and thus moving masses of people with his speeches left them speechless and moved to the core. The bibles say, as he spoke,” The people shouted, ‘The voice of God, and not of a man!’ Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory. He was eaten by worms and died.” (Acts 12:20-23).
What is worth noting is that “it’s the people who called him God but as many scholars have agreed, in his heart, he was of the same opinion to consider himself as high as God, in adulation and exaltation. He never lived to see another day, and worse still, God never gave him an opportunity to be buried decently “Worms ate his carcass as people watched!
What a sad thing that all the bible records is that “He never gave glory to God” as reason for his sudden death…My question is, if God were to come to earth now with such vengeance, how many of us will survive his wrath?
I have no better conclusion for this message than what Apostle Paul said, “For in him (God) we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ Acts 17:28
It’s time we took time to thank God for all he has made us to be. It’s not because you’re connected but it’s because God has all planned up for us. He knows where the enemy is. He knows whom he will alert to pray for us to have some safe passage and he has all our life figured out and the least we can do is to give him glory for both small and big achievements. Kindly subscribe and share and let us encourage each other in Christ. God bless you
