A story is told of A Nigerian woman who was cooking groundnuts in the Kitchen. The son, being a young jovial boy would come in the kitchen, look at the mother’s position, and before she knew it, the boy would scoop some groundnuts and run away laughing as he eats it. It went on several times and the mum was very annoyed. When the boy to do as he has been doing, she told him “If you take again the groundnuts, you’ll die! As usual, the son did it and ran away to play with his friends, but lo, some minutes later, she was called in the field, the son had just collapsed and died! Resuscitation could not help. He had died, just as she declared. She never knew how powerful words are but lived to reap it fruits
Beloved, Words have power and they are instruments of war. Any war in the physical, is worn or lost in the spirit by the words speak. Someone once said “If you say I can’t make it, you’re right! You will definitely not make it. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.(Proverbs 18:21)
Before King David worn the war with Goliath, He looked at him and spoke words of victory. He said to him “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. “This day the LORD will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the LORD does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you into our hands.(1st Samuel 17:45-47)
In one of his great sermons, Jesus assured the disciples of how powerful words are. He said “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. (Mark 11:23-24).
In Isaiah in his writings, reminded us our the power that we hold in spiritual warfare. He said, No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; ( pls note)AND EVERY TONGUE THAT ACCUSES YOU IN JUDGEMENT YOU WILL CONDEMN. (he then assured us) This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD.(Isaiah 54:17). When i read this verses, it teaches me that i have power to counsel every negative words than men have spoken on me.
Saint of God, be careful with what you say and don’t be just speak things in anger as this Nigerian woman did. She reaped what she sowed. Also, don’t grumble and complain that people are talking negative words on you! Cancel them in Jesus name and replace their words of defeat with words of victory over your life. No Mountain is bigger than your God and if you are facing a mountain however tall, stand, look at it and in faith, command it to give way in Jesus name. No mountain is big and tall to the servants of God. Have faith in God and speak words of victory over every situation and you will bring down every mountain in Jesus name.
