Each follower of Jesus has a spiritual gift assigned to him by God. This gift is given mostly to function within the church and to the growth of the believer. (1 Cor. 12:7). Truth be told, all of us have been gifted and packaged with gifts from God. Unfortunately, as it’s has been said, many people never open up their package of gift that God deposited in them. To many of this people, they dwell on their weaknesses more than their area of strength.
In his book Gifted Hands, Ben Carson, M.D,is such a classic example of how a gift can spur you to greatness. He works medical miracles. Today, he’s one of the most celebrated neurosurgeons in the world. In Gifted Hands, he shares his inspiring journey from his childhood in inner-city Detroit to his position as director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital at age 33. This man’s gift and genius in medicine has made him one of the greatest life-givers of the century.
I have no time to talk about the Sampras and their tennis gifts, the Bolt with his athletic prowess not to mention the Gandhi’s with their leadership gifts.
Ben Carson is a role model for anyone who attempts the seemingly impossible as he takes you into the operating room where he has saved countless lives. Filled with fascinating cases. This tells me we only have ourselves to blame for any failure in our life’s, because we create our own destiny by the way we utilize the gifting’s that God has deposited in us. We have to take advantage of every opportunity to show forth the unique design that God intended for us as individuals, rather than rant about other people’s failures. The bible says “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men (Prov. 18:16).
It is interesting to note that the Bible does not say that a man’s education makes room for him, but that his gift does. Don’t misunderstand me. I believe in education and Dr Ben Carson off Couse went through medical school before utilizing his gift, however, if education were the key to success, then everyone who has a Ph.D. would be financially secure and happy.
If you’re educated but have not developed your talent, you’re likely going to be depressed, frustrated, and tired. I am here writing encouraging messages to believers around the world because I know that’s my major gift from God to humanity! Sometimes it comes with a heavy cost to my small pocket but i love it! How about you? Do you even know your gift? What sacrifices are you going to make to nature your gift? You will hate going to work on Monday mornings and you will never see fulfillment or satisfaction in all you do if you do a job that you hate, but inside you there is a joy in doing something that you know, and are sure, you can do it happily and even for free-and don’t feel pinched. Proverbs 18:16 says, “A man’s gift…brings him before great men”. This helps me to realize that the gift you’re sitting on is already a loaded gun? Will you put your fingers to it to shoot or will you watch it as it dwindles as days of your meeting God approaches? This gift is for the common good of the church and humanity and not a special attribute of personality or a talent for self-gratification. This gift is a manifestation of God’s Holy Spirit in the follower’s life that supernaturally empowers him or her to serve as a member of the body of Christ.
