One of the most important skills God wants us to develop as we walk with Christ is to love difficult people. It’s easy to love someone who loves you, easy to walk with people you can go along with, laugh with people who can take your every joke without judging you, but is hard to love those who seem un-lovable.
Whenever you love the unlovable, you demonstrate the love of God. Yes, it’s hard but it’s worth the cause. The greatest test for a wife is always when he can love his unloving husband. The greatest test for a husband is to love an un-submissive wife. When it comes to marriage, scripture tells husbands to love their wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. Ephesians 5:25-27). My question is, has the church been good to God and responsive to his love, as Lord requires of us? I bet not but God still love us.
One of the tests for a child is when you love your uncaring parent. The test for a parent is when you love the child who does not appreciate your efforts. Imagine how the parent of the prodigal son felt, when he saw his son disregarding him –while demanding for his rights? When he comes back, we see the love of the father had for him was still as intact as it was before he left. This does not mean you tolerate everything they people do. Sometimes we have to let people be taught life the hard way by the world. As a human being, we should realize we can’t please everybody however how much we try but If you love those who love you, as the bible says, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.[Matthew 5:46-48 ]
God’s expectation for us is that we may love the unlovable. If you have a different opinion from what they have, we have to Confront them by “speaking the truth in love”[ Ephesians 4:15] and to NEVER retaliate [Matthew 5:38-39]. When we retaliate, It only lowers us to their level. My advice has always been, just love people and Pray for them (Matthew 5:44). It will help both of you. God bless you
