Ever heard people say ,”When everything fails, then pray! My question is, why wait for everything to fail before praying? infarct, if we pray first, everything won’t fail!

This and many such quotes that men have adopted make prayer look like an emergency pill, rather than a lifestyle. The bible is full of men and women who were of the opposite view. Prayer was there life, and life’s troubles found them praying and ended as they prayed. Jesus Christ’s life was always prayerful. He would withdraw from ministry to go and talk to his father in heaven. The disciples had been watching Jesus for some time when they asked him to teach them how to pray. They must have noticed his prayers had power and for sure they worked they worked. [Luke 11:1]

Your security is not tied to having a body guard[even though is good to have one],but it’s tied to prayer. When Paul and Silas were jailed, the chains didn’t limit their voice codes. It’s written at “midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, “Don’t harm yourself! We are all here!”.[Acts 16:25-28]

Prayer builds the confidence of a believer with his God. Prayer-less believers many times, have a lot of doubts about God, but when you lock up with God and cry to him in prayer, he opens your ears and eyes- and makes you see life from a higher perspective than before. Paul was confident enough to save the life of the guard in the prison from his insecurities. God used him to restore this man to him because Paul and Silas prayed. Martin Luther said “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.

Daniel was always a prayerful man. He prayed three times every day. In  scripture, this seems to be the bare minimum to every son or daughter of God. He Prayed in the morning, midday and evening. He was a senior government official in Babylon but that never made his life of prayer die. He always found time with God. Jesus later calls him a prophet, [Matthew 24:15], yet in the book of Daniel, there is no record of him being called the same. His lifestyle of prayer had touched the heavens and he ended up being the channel that God would use to communicate his ideas to the wicked kings he used to govern with.

Brethren, have you noticed that preaching is all about pointing fingers to others and what they’re not doing? BUT when you go to prayer, the reverse happens. You find the same finger pointing at you. Isaiah would say “Woo is me, what a wretched man I’m! Such revelations of our areas of weakness in our lives are laid bare to us when you pray.

Saint of God, how is your prayer life? Have you developed a habit of spending 15 or even 2 hrs in prayer daily before the Lord? Don’t be the one to wait for everything to fail, before praying. You don’t need to run to the police shouting your life is in danger as the politicians do. Prayer should be your key of your morning and the bolt of the evening. You’re always safe when you pray. That’s why the bible says we should,” Rejoice always, pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. [1 Thessalonians 5:16-18]. Whatever you’re going through, pray. Let us make prayer a lifestyle. God bless you
