One of the the most argued and highly debated topic in the church today is the concept of the will of God. Many believers are all over the world struggling to grasp this concept. In many occasions, if anyone wants to run away from a marriage, you’ll hear them say “i think it was not the will of God for me to be in this marriage!. Little do they know, that once you get into the marriage relationship, be it traditional, through a wedding or at the AG chambers, you’re already in the will of God and you can not reverse anyhow with excuses like” it wasn’t the will of God! It’s so sad of how we massage of guilty conscience with excuses -all in the name of “the will of God!
Have you also heard of those who are married as second wives saying “I’m in the tis marriage because it’s God’s will for my life? I was listening to a Christian radio station and a woman was complaining bitterly as to why the church doesn’t want her to be a appointed a deacon, just because “she is a second wife! What this sister does not know is this, “the will of God dictates to the church of God the qualification of a deacon..1st Timothy 3:12 says,” a deacon must be the husband of but one wife, (read-“wife of one husband”) a good manager of his children and of his own household. Again, is it really the will of God to be married as a second wife? In Matthew 19:8, Jesus said it clearly on this polygamous marriages of the old testament. He was clear,” Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.
This days relationships among the singles, have not been left behind .Many men and women, when boredom sets in their relationship or one of them has lost earning, and the once blossoming engagement starts looking boring, they soon want out, even without fault from the other partner, and will still attribute it to the “will of God”. Please note that, when they engaged, if you listened to them then, you’ll hear them say how “we are in the will of God to work together as a couple, as we wait for our wedding. Casual sex that’s out of reason, when explaining it out, some say “maybe it was the will of God, for me to go through such, to learn this or that? but my question has always been, how? The will of God says we should say NO to ungodliness. Titus 2:11-12 says “the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.
According to this scripture, you realize that the will of God does not lead people astray but leads them to right living. In his book “The Power of God’s Grace, Gary Schulz, says “Grace is a flow of the power of God through his people to accomplish his will among us. It is about his life manifesting in and among us.
I’m a firm believer in the fact that our God doesn’t hide in mystery. His word is his will for us. The Bible says God “revealed himself to Samuel through his word” (1 Samuel 3:21) Job said ““I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.” (Job 23:12 ) .When talking to the church in Thesalonica, Paul says “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5)
To the married ,God’s will is that they should “Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another because God will surely judge the immoral and those who commit adultery(Hebrews 13:4). Rick Warren says” When you read your Bible or hear a sermon or listen to a CD, don’t just forget it and walk away. Develop the practice of reviewing the truth in your mind, thinking about it over and over. The more time you spend reviewing what God has said, the more you will understand the “secrets” and will of God for this life that most people miss. The Bible repeatedly urges us to meditate on who God is, what he has done, and what he has said. Warren continues….” When you think about a problem over and over in your mind, that’s called “worry” but When you think about God’s Word over and over, that’s meditation.
My point is, If you know how to worry, you already know how to meditate on the will of God, which is his own word! All we have to do as God’s children is to switch our attention from our problems to Bible verses that teaches us God’s direct will for our lives. The more you meditate on God’s Word, the less you will have to worry about life or mistake your inabilities to his will. Whatever you may be Going through, God’s desire is that you may know his word which he has willed for us all. It’s only in the bible that you’ll find solutions to all human problems and soon, whatever will happen, you’ll be able to confidently know God’s direction in all situations in your life. Start reading his word today and you’ll never struggle with God’s will again. God bless you
