God never created us with intentions of us living a private life. Adam never stayed long in the garden Eden before God saw his need for companionship. Many of us are locking things within us in the name of “my private life “and have ended up with ulcers and other gone to early graves for not sharing them out. Pastor Rick warren says we have to get things off our chest. Your body is not made to hold it in. When you hold guilt, bitterness and anger inside you, it’s like shaking up a soda-can with the top on. It will blow up eventually. Sometime back, while listening to radio 3:16, i got to hear of the testimony of Joyce Meyer. Though a public figure now, she speaks openly about the rape she experienced from the father when she was a child until 18yrs.
When she was sharing out her testimony, i could see a free woman. The devil will always lie to us that what we’ve experienced is not worthy sharing and thus we live bitter and defeated lives. Joyce Meyer continues to say “if you live in bitterness of what you’ve gone through and not willing to share it out is like drinking poison and expecting your enemy to die. Most notable figure in the bible were open people. David had Ahithophel as his counselor, Paul and the apostles had Barnabas to talk to and encourage them in ministry. In Luke 22:42-44 we find Jesus could not hold in what he was to go through. The word of God says” He walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine. ”Then an angel from heaven appeared and strengthened him….Note that word” the angel of the Lord Strengthened him!
My question to us all is,whom do you confide in, when going through issues..Everyone needs an encourager. Everyone needs a friend they can trust..Boiling inside and secretly crying in your bedroom wont help much. Seek for help.Seek a counsellor and above all, seek God.God bless you
