If you happen to be a Kenyan, you may be knowing the meaning of “Kitchen Cabinet” or inner circle that is always associated with the president. This are close people to the president that all they say,it’s easily seen to be from the president. It is human to want to be included into the “Kitchen Cabinet”. It means that you are qualified to hear things, experience things and be privy to information from the source, that the masses of the citizenship is not allowed to see. Whenever someone in the “Kitchen Cabinet “talks, it just means the king has spoken. Jesus had a “Kitchen Cabinet” too. It comprised of Peter, James and John. Isn’t good to be in the inner circle of Jesus!
Infact, John had a very special relationship with Jesus. He was considered to be Jesus’ best friend. It was John who recognized Jesus after the crucifixion at the seashore. The bible records,”Then the disciple whom Jesus loved, said to Peter, ‘It is the Lord!’”(John 21:7).John’s friendship was such that he could even lay his head upon [Jesus’s] shoulder at the last supper when he inquired about the betrayer: “So lying thus, close to the breast of Jesus, he said to him, ‘Lord, who is it?’”[John 13:25-26 ]. Oh what a closeness to Jesus that John enjoyed.
Almost forty years after the last supper, John wrote the final Gospel in A.D. 90. He was chosen by God to receive “the vision” and record it in the Book of Revelation. When it came time for Jesus to leave the earth for good, it was Peter, James and John who had the privilege to see the transfiguration. It’s recorded in scripture, “After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus”. [Mark 9:2 ]
My question to us all as believers is, “are you enjoying the unique privilege John peter and James enjoyed with Jesus? saying I’m born a gain is not enough but being in his inner circle of the Lord matters a lot. Imagine Jesus had 12 disciples and only three were close to him?. The Lord desires to have the same closeness he had with John, Peter and James with you too. The bible says “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.[James 4:8]. That means
Your relationship with God will, and is always dependent on how close you draw near to him. Let your pa-suit this yr be to be close to Jesus. Make sure you are in his inner circle, and soon, you will be a transmission line of heavenly messages to those a round you, and the world beyond. God bless you.
