Hope is a major contributor to our Christian faith. The bible says “Faith is the substance of things hoped for…” (Hebrews 11:1)…This word “HOPE” has a lot of meaning. Many of us concentrate more on faith and never delve deeper to see the meaning of the word “Hope”, in the same sentence. Hope is a powerful thing. It inspires us to do the impossible and helps us carry on during difficult times. Hope can come in many different shapes and forms. It may be through our favorite music, or a good book, or even by listening to our favorite thoughtful preaching. Personally, I have anchored myself in God’s word, and that’s where I get my drive to drive on, in hopeless times. The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof. Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there’s no actual magic in it, but when you know what you hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic.
Many people who commit suicide or kill themselves, if you asked them before they did that heinous act of self-destruction, the reason is always “lose of Hope! Actually, hope is the launching pad of faith. Until hope is in place, faith does not work. Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all even in difficult times
Hope sets the goal while faith targets it. As it has been said, a hopeless man is a ‘goalless’ man. Such a man will never amount to anything unless he start applying this attitude of hope in his life. In Romans 5:5, we are told, “Hope maketh not ashamed. Whenever hope is put in place in someone’s life, shame is displaced and suicide cases crumble. The only reason why certain People walk around feeling ashamed of their lives and feeling empty inside, is just because they have no hope.
Hope makes your reproach give way to glory and trials are turned to testimonies! In-fact, diseases like stress and depression have its cure in having your hope alive. As I said earlier, the people who commit suicide and do things we consider silly that risks their lives have its genesis in loose of hope. As long as you can envision a better tomorrow, you will never be stressed when you don’t achieve your targets today, because hope is a constant assurance of a better tomorrow, if not a better future.
Without hope, faith is helpless. Hope is the sustainer of faith. Hope keeps faith going strong even when the miracle seems to be delayed (Rom 4:18).
Look at Hebrews 11 again. It starts, “Now, faith is…” If you watch this word keenly, you realize faith operates in the now, but hope operates in future tense. It presents to you what is yet to come but which is sure to come. You can have a job even before you apply for it, that is hope
Hope is the anchor of life! As long you have hope, your life is secure. Many loose direction and meaning of life is just because they lost hope. This makes them remain defeated because of this one thing, loose of hope. Unfortunately, for some, when they were about to hit the mark, and the miracle is near, they lose hope.
Job survived the tragedies that hit him because he never lost hope. Regardless of what befall him, he could look at his troubles with a future in mind. He said, “As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth. Job 19:25
Job indeed is an outstanding character when it comes to patient endurance in hope. At the Genesis of his troubles, and when he lost his family all he had he look in the future a head and said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD!”[Job 1:21] Job placed his hope in God and looked beyond his problem to start praising God. What a great man
Beloved, when everything seems to be lost don’t lose hope.
When you can’t catch anything, catch hope!
When life presents difficulties of any kind, don’t lose hope
Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness
There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope
Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future
Benjamin Disraeli once said this, ”I think it’s a mistake to ever look for hope outside of one’s self. I am prepared for the worst, but hope for the best. What a great attitude for life.
When there is nothing else to hold in terms of human support, resources or position, hold on to hope.
If you have tried several times and have not achieved your goal, still remain hopeful!
Stop counting your failures, count your opportunities. The more you count your failures, setbacks and trials, the more discouraged you become.
A hopeful man says, “I don’t care how many times I have tried and failed in the past, this time I am getting it!”
• Once the stone of hopelessness is rolled away, nothing is impossible (John. 11:39-43).
Hope is a powerful thing. It inspires us to do the impossible and helps us carry on during difficult times. And hope can come in many different shapes and forms. It may be through our favorite music, or a good book, or even by listening to our favorite thought leaders.
Hope tells you, “Your situation will not always be what it is now. Things will soon change for the better. Moreover, the end of a matter is better than the beginning thereof” (Ecclesiastes 8:7). It is too early to draw a conclusion on your case because you are still under construction and all things, including the obviously contrary, are working together for your good (Romans 8:28).”
Hopelessness sets in when you agree that nothing good can come out of your situation again. That is when you begin to seek alternatives or even wish that you were dead.
When you see yourself getting depressed, it means hopelessness is trying to arrest you, and you should free yourself immediately by going for the Word of God. Hope is build when you have the word of God in you. God’s word gives us the energy to hope for the future he has promised
God’s Word is the book of hope, it helps you to look up from where you are to where you ought to be.
Saint of God, next time you see hopelessness trying to attempt settling with you, speak to yourself against that thought. In psalms, when such a thought enveloped David, he said to self, “Why art you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted in me? Hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance” (Psalms 42:5). Nothing inspires hope like the Word of God. You can’t be around the Word of God and be hopeless, just like a plant cannot be situated beside the waters and still wither. “The bible says “there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again…Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant (Job 14:7-9. My thought for today is to build your reservoir of hope and never lose it. With God’s help, do your best to keep your hope alive that is my message for you to day. God bless you
